Bring on the Retro

We finally got and installed our new flooring . A checker board pattern of Armstrong VCT tiles in Bikini Blue and Charcoal.

We also got our new wheel wells, a very good copy of the originals. Fabricated by fellow VSTF (Vintage Shasta Trailer Forum) Member Gremlinguy.

I sprayed them with SEM self etching primer(as shown) Then I top coated them with Chassis Saver (not shown) which is the same paint I used to paint the frame.

The Rebuild of a 1961 Shasta Astrodome into a 1961 Shasta Airflyte

Hello and Welcome to my blog. This is an online journey of a beat up and down 1961 Shasta Astrodome, a trailer that had been around the block, state and country once or twice. We bought the Astrodome in January from it's second owner. The trailer has been in Colorado all it's life and it spent almost it's entire life in a small farming town outside of Colorado Springs called Peyton. I happened across an ad for it on Craiglist. It was located in the very rural Mountain town of Blackhawk, that's where we found it, rescued it and are now saving it. The second owner got it in trade and although he used it, it was seriously neglected and had some major water damage, rodent infestation and rot as is the case with most vintage trailers.
